BOTOX® Cosmetic

Millions of women have already found that when it comes to BOTOX® Cosmetic, freedom of expression is what it’s all about.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic targets what are known as dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repeated muscular contractions, such as frowning and squinting. BOTOX® Cosmetic, is an injectable treatment derived from purified protein, works by relaxing the muscles that cause these dynamic wrinkles, giving your face a natural looking and a more relaxed and refreshed appearance. In addition, treatment is so quick and easy that you can often have it done over lunch.

A history of success

While you may only know BOTOX® Cosmetic as a wrinkle treatment, BOTOX® has actually been in use for over 20 years for the effective treatment of many medical conditions. In fact, it’s been approved for medical use in Canada and in more than 75 countries for 20 different medical applications .Today BOTOX® Cosmetic has become the most popular physician-administrated cosmetic treatment in North America with an estimated three million treatments preformed annually.

Where can BOTOX® Cosmetic be used?

Treatment areas where BOTOX® Cosmetic can be used include the frown lines between the eyebrows, the horizontal lines that run across the forehead, and the crow’s feet around the outer eyes.

Frequently asked questions

Will my face still have expression?

BOTOX® Cosmetics is intended to enhance the way you look, not change it. When administered by an experienced physician, you can still smile, frown, and be expressive. The treatment only relaxes the muscle beneath the lines at the point of injection, so the other elements of your facial expression remain active. It also has no effect on the sensory nerves, so you will have normal feeling in the treated areas.

Are BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments safe?

BOTOX® has been licensed in Canada since 1990 as a safe and effective treatment for a variety of medical conditions. In 2001, Health Canada approved BOTOX® Cosmetic for wrinkle therapy.

What is the treatment like?

A tiny amount of BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected very precisely into the muscles being treated. A very fine needle and a small amount of liquid is used so the pain associated with the injection is minimal. No sedation or local anaesthetic is required, and you can resume normal activities immediately.

How long does a treatment take?

A BOTOX® Cosmetic procedure is quick, simple, and there is no down time. Following a facial analysis by your physician and a discussion on your desired outcome, the procedure itself only takes about ten to fifteen minutes to perform.

Who should not use this treatment?

There are very few restrictions regarding the use of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Those who are pregnant, nursing, or have a neurological disease should not be treated.

How soon will I see a difference and how long does the treatment last?

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment. Full results in one to two weeks. The effects usually last up to four months. After repeat treatments, the effects may begin to last longer.

Does BOTOX® have any side effects?

Side effects are rare and these should be discussed with your doctor.

Are there creams that are better than BOTOX® Cosmetic?

There is no scientific evidence that supports creams work better than BOTOX® Cosmetic. Creams work well on the surface of the skin. BOTOX® Cosmetic works below the surface to relax the muscles that cause the lines and wrinkles to form.

The Soft Lift approach

As we age, our faces slowly undergo the “3 Ds” of aging: deterioration (wrinkles and texture change), descent (droopiness of the skin), and deflation (a loss of volume). Soft Lift addresses the concerns of aging skin by combining the facial filler JVEDERM® with BOTOX® Cosmetic. The result is a full facial rejuvenation effect that is balanced and natural looking. With the Soft Lift approach, aesthetic practitioners use BOTOX® Cosmetic to treat upper facial lines, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines, along with Juvé derm to treat volume loss and folds in the mid to lower face. Soft Lift makes it possible to achieve a pleasing and refreshed look.
